The most popular designs are freestanding louvered pergolas over outdoor dining or pool areas, and wall-mounted pergolas extending covered living space from the home. Modern aluminum designs with clean lines and motorized louvers have become the dominant choice for homeowners upgrading from wood or vinyl. Custom sizing means every design fits its space perfectly.
The ideal size depends on your space and intended use. For a dining area, 12’ x 14’ to 14’ x 18’ is popular. For full outdoor living rooms, 16’ x 20’ to 20’ x 24’ creates a generous covered space. Our pergolas are custom cut to the half-inch, so there’s no need to compromise on standard sizes.
Common placements include over a patio or deck adjacent to the house (wall-mount), around a pool or outdoor kitchen (freestanding), or as a standalone entertaining pavilion. Consider sun exposure, views, and proximity to the house. Our design team can help you optimize placement for your specific property.
Permit requirements vary by municipality. Many jurisdictions require permits for structures over a certain size or attached to the home. We provide complete engineering specifications, and PE-stamped drawings from a licensed Professional Engineer are available for permit applications in any US jurisdiction.
Aluminum is the longest-lasting pergola material available. Unlike wood (which rots, warps, and requires annual maintenance) or vinyl (which yellows, cracks, and can’t support motorized systems), 6063-T6 aluminum is corrosion-proof, maintenance-free, and backed by our lifetime transferable warranty.
